We will have to repent in this generation not merely for the hateful words and actions of the bad people but for the appalling silence of the good people. -- "Letter from Birmingham Jail,"This was nearly 50 years ago! Reading this letter when I was a sophomore in high school made an impression on me by changing my life and opening up my eyes to economic injustice and systemic racism, not just the little acts of meanness.
