No, it's not an offer of lunch. The media report that many of us are functioning as full- or part-time unpaid caregivers, for elderly and/or disabled parents or grandparents, for children, for grandchildren whose parents are absent or temporarily or permanently unable to care for their offspring. And some of us are caring for two or more generations at a time!
The new name for baby boomers is the "sandwich generation." It's a funny term for a very serious challenge, which often brings overwhelming financial and emotional demands, guilt, burnout, and overstressed, damaged relationships.
